Project, programme & portfolio management & capability development

Projects and programmes are becoming the drivers of organisational value. As the business environment becomes more global, digitalised, uncertain and fast, organisations must adapt quickly to bring new services and products to customers and clients. Project and programme managers are the people who can make that happen.

Yet numerous global studies show there is a lot waste in  projects, due to poor management, counterproductive behaviours, and bad decision-making. There is no reason to believe the New Zealand situation is any different.

Robust, professional project, programme and portfolio management in your organisation has never been more important or valuable.

What I can offer

I have practical experience leading,  managing and working in diverse projects and programmes, particularly in the public sector.

These include website and intranet development – including implementing one of the first websites in the New Zealand public sector,  organisational branding and rebranding, social marketing and public education campaigns.

I have also worked in programmes, including the Transformation One Programme at the former Housing New Zealand and the Whenua Māori Programme at Te Puni Kōkiri.

I am a certified Practitioner and trainer in several widely respected and utilised project, programme and portfolio management methodologies.

I was one of the first people globally to achieve the AXELOS ProPath qualification “trifecta”: ProPath Project Expert, ProPath Agile Project Expert and ProPath Programme Leader. These required me to achieve and maintain Practitioner certifications in:

  • PRINCE2 (2017, and previously 2009)
  • PRINCE2Agile (which also required me to become a Certified Scrum Master)
  • Managing Successful Programmes(MSP);
  • Management of Portfolios (M_o_P);
  • Portfolio, Programme and Project Offices (P3O); and
  • Management of Risk (M_o_R)

I am also a Practitioner and accredited trainer in APMG International Better Business Cases, upon which the New Zealand Treasury’s Five Case Model is based.

I am a certified and experienced Trainer in all of the methodologies above, as an Associate of internationally-accredited, New Zealand-owned training organisation ProjecPlus Ltd.
